CHILDREN’s play therapy & teens

I believe that we all have the capacity to heal, change, grow, and ultimately Thrive. When we have the right support, we can bounce back from any adversity and challenges in life.

Hi, I am Nisha, I am a Registered Social worker. I have over 10 years of experience supporting children and families across diverse populations. My passion is working with children and families. With creativity, honesty, curiosity, and humor, I create a safe, warm, and empowering environment where children and families can share, explore and brainstorm solutions. I strongly believe in the power of play, (not just for Children – for everyone) Play is a fundamental need of children and that is how they communicate, with that approach in mind I focus on play therapy so that children can effectively express their feelings, inner conflicts and heal in a way that is natural and safe.

I am also a mother to one grade-schooler child and I have learned that children’s and youth’s brains are still developing, making them experience emotions differently than Adults. In challenging times children do not have the coping skills or the ability to regulate their emotions. From personal experience, I have learned that asking for support for you or your child is okay and that is the first step toward wellbeing and healing.

I support children and families with different life and developmental challenges, childhood anxiety, selective Mutism, ADHD, stress, trauma, grief and loss, life transitions, emotional literacy, and day-to-day life challenges. My practice promotes mindfulness and a strength-based approach. My approach to therapy is relational and person-centered. This means that I believe that forming a strong relationship is foundational to our work together. When I am not at work, you will find me on a run and walk I enjoy swimming with my daughter every Sunday. Reading a book while enjoying tea is my kind of Self-care.

I look forward to working with you.
