CHILDREN & TEEN COUNSELLING

Hi, my name is Nayomi and I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor here at Thrive. I completed my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology with Yorkville University. I have worked with children, teens, young adults and families from various cultural backgrounds and family dynamics over the past 18 years. At Thrive, I am excited about the collaborative work I get to do with children, youth, and families to help them achieve their goals. I am curious about the unique stories my clients bring into counselling and passionate about helping my clients find their strengths in times they feel challenged. I am looking forward to working with my clients as they gradually reach their fullest potential.

I am a mother to three teenage children, and I learn and grow alongside them navigating through their teenage years. I understand that life is not easy for teenagers, and I realize the value of a safe, empathetic presence in a youth’s life as they explore these challenges.

I support, clients with anxiety/ panic attacks, depression, grief & loss, body image/ self-esteem, family divorce/separation, school & family-relationship issues.

I work collaboratively with my clients to help them navigate their challenging times. I use a blended therapeutic approach utilizing Person-Centered therapy with Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I also like to empower my clients through Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy to achieve their internal balance which promotes self compassion as they gain a better understanding of self in their unique context.

During my free time, I love taking road trips or learning about games from my children. Also, I love reading and listening to music when in my downtime.

I look forward to working with you!
