Registered PRovisional Psychologist

TEEN & young adult COUNSELLING

Pronouns: He/Him

I’m Jaime, a Registered Provisional Psychologist who believes that everyone has a unique story, strengths, and the ability to grow, even when life feels difficult. I strive to create a safe, welcoming, and judgment-free space where young people can feel comfortable being themselves and talking about what matters to them.

I was born in Colombia and later moved to Canada, which gave me firsthand experience with starting over in a new place, adapting to change, and building a new sense of belonging. These experiences have taught me the importance of having people in your life who listen, support you, and believe in your potential.

I have a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Universidad Católica de Colombia and a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology from Athabasca University. I have also completed training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and continue to develop my knowledge and skills in different approaches to mental health and counselling.

Through my work, I have had the opportunity to support children and teenagers as they navigate different challenges and transitions. I enjoy helping young people better understand their emotions, build self-esteem and confidence, develop healthy relationships, manage difficult experiences, and recognize their own strengths. My approach is collaborative, I believe you are the expert on your own life, and my role is to walk alongside you as you work toward your goals.

Outside of work, I enjoy playing guitar, reading fantasy books, biking, painting, and gardening. I also enjoy learning about different cultures, meeting new people, and trying new things.

One thing I’ve learned throughout my life is that asking for help is not a sign of weakness, it’s a sign that you care about yourself and want things to get better. You don’t have to have everything figured out. Sometimes, having someone listen and help you make sense of things can be the first step toward moving forward.
