REGISTERED provisional PSYCHOLOGIST

Pronouns: She/Her/Hers

Hello and welcome! My name is June. I graduated from City University of Seattle in 2022 with a Master of Counselling Degree, and I also have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology from the University of Alberta. I am in good standing with the College of Alberta Psychologists and the Psychologists’ Association of Alberta.

I am here for my clients to provide them with a non-judgmental, safe space to have a voice. Using empathy, genuine concern, and unconditional positive regard, I join my clients as they look inward and attune to their physiology, notice their thoughts, and welcome/accept their emotions. Increased self-awareness and insights from therapy work can significantly help clients identify their values and their authentic selves, which, in turn, can direct them towards increased meaning and fulfillment in their lives.

I am particularly drawn to working with teens (13+) and young adults, perhaps since my own three children fall into these age groups. I can see how the unpredictability of our changing world has been causing increased anxiety in our youth, frequently leading to several maladaptive responses such as panic and emotional dysregulation, depression, self-harm, OCD, and existential angst. Along with my experience in working with these presenting concerns, I also have experience in helping young people navigate through loss, associated grief, and symptoms of trauma (including complex trauma). I consider it a privilege to give my full attention to people of younger generations whose stories and struggles are yearning to be heard and supported.

While the therapeutic approach I use with my clients is largely non-directive and person-centered, I often find it useful to integrate techniques from psychodynamic psychotherapy, solution-focused therapy (SFT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and compassion-focused therapy (CFT).I love the richness of diversity, including the diversity of culture, ethnicity, gender, and personality.

Outside of the therapy room, I enjoy spending my free time with my family, which often involves philosophical discussions, working on jigsaw puzzles, and watching dramas. When I am by myself, I enjoy personal reflection, reading memoirs, and doing cardio workouts while watching Star Trek reruns. I also love animals, especially my beautiful little cat.

I look forward to hearing your story and supporting you.
