MASTER’S CLINICAL INTERN

children & teen counselling

certified teacher

Hello, my name is Brenna Oswald and I am excited to work alongside you! I am nearing the completion of my Masters in Counselling Psychology (MACP) and I love to work with both children and teens of all ages. In addition to my master’s program, I also have two bachelor degrees, including a Bachelor of Education Degree (BEd) and Bachelor of Arts Degree (BA) and over 6 years experience working with children as a certified teacher and counsellor.

I primarily work alongside children, adolescents, young adults, and families. My skills are particularly honed in handling anxiety, depression, and grief. Additionally, I am well-versed in addressing school-related challenges, navigating relationship and peer issues, assisting with adjustment during significant life transitions, and providing support around gender identity concerns.

I have specific training in:

  • child development

  • children’s play and art therapy

  • behavioural management

  • grief and loss counselling

  • crisis intervention

  • trauma-informed practice

  • risk assessment

  • LGBTQ2S+ and diversity training

My practice is rooted in a Person-Centered Therapeutic Approach (PCT), allowing you to take an active role in your therapeutic journey. I frequently integrate Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MCBT), and Art and Play Therapy principles to cultivate personalized treatments tailored to your individual needs and goals.

When I'm not at Thrive, you can find me spending time with my family and my dog, Marvin! Marvin and I love going on outdoor adventures and taking trips to Homesense (we always end up with more dog toys than we need, but Marvin insists).

I look forward to connecting with you!
