OTHER INTERN INFORMATION
Thrive interns have completed their master’s degree coursework and are in the last stages of their training, prior to receiving their license as a clinical counsellor or provisional psychologist.
Thrive interns are closely supervised by a team of experienced psychologists, counsellors and supervisors on the Thrive team.
While most insurance plans do not cover student interns, there are some plans that do offer intern coverage, under the supervision of a psychologist. Please check with your individual provider and plan. Direct billing is not available for student interns

Hello!
My name is Kelsey Dawson and I am currently a Master’s Intern, finishing up my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. I have spent the last 5 years of my career working with university students as a Student Advisor at the University of Alberta. I’m so excited to work with youth in a new capacity as a clinical intern!
Therapy isn’t one-size-fits-all, and I am looking forward to creating a space, an approach, and solutions that work for you! I’m thrilled to work with clients of varying cultures, backgrounds, genders, and sexual orientations.
The areas I work in include LGBTQ2S+ issues, career counselling, preparing for life after high school, anxiety, and depression. My therapeutic interests include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Person-Centred Therapy.
Outside of work, I am an avid podcast-listener, cat-lover, and Edmonton festival-goer. I’m a big fan of gaming (board games and video games), trying new restaurants with my wife, and convincing my cat to sit on my lap for a couple of minutes.
I look forward to meeting you!
Kelsey
